(5/04-5/06) Mixed environments for review and generation of engineering designs.

@UF CISE undergrad and graduate research.

Mixed reality.

Worked on registration of real objects to their virtual correlates, laser scanning of real objects to create virtual models, content creation. Created a purely virtual version of our mixed reality environment with collision detection and a tracked joystick as a surrogate for the user's hand. Publications: IEEE & ACM ISMAR 2005, IEEE VR 3dui workshop 2005, ACM VRST 2006.

(5/06-9/06) Epsilon AR Engine.

@Naval Research Lab internship.

Augmented Reality.

Developed a "re-implementation" of the existing BARS: Battlefield Augmented Reality System, using the video game engine Delta3D (developed at Naval Postgraduate School). This mobile AR system was designed for practicing of room clearing in urban environments. Video see-thru HMD, Intersense IS900, tracked airsoft AR15 to manipulate virtual rifle, etc.

(9/06-5/07) Auto-align.

@UF CISE graduate research.

Mixed reality.

Combining color-based tracking (6dof) with laser scanning to rapidly create virtual models of real objects, which are instantly and automatically registered to their real counterparts that users manipulate in the mixed environment.

(4/07-10/07) Forensics in SecondLife.

@Naval Research Lab internship.

MMO social environments.

Built a virtual city in Second Life to support collaborative team training in conducting forensics and search tasks in urban virtual environments.

(7/07-Present) Mixed reality humans.

@UF CISE graduate research.

Mixed reality + Virtual Human agents.

Tangible interface to a virtual human, many user studies (n=80+ as of 8/08). More info is around this website. Multi-institutional project (U FL, Medical College of Georgia, Northwestern, U Central FL) with technical development done by yours truly.
